While their existing website had become outdated in styling and functionality, they had additional requirements around scalability, disaster recovery, and ADA compliance. As a result, Seminole County required a new website that:
Seminole County partnered with DigitalUs to craft a website solution that met all of its needs. To gain a better understanding of how the new website should be designed, DigitalUs met with and extensively interviewed Seminole County staff and other stakeholder groups. After learning how users were interacting with the site, DigitalUs suggested restructuring the navigation around high priority interactions and information - those that residents accessed frequently, visitors searched for prior to coming and business owners needed to know.
The site was designed to be visually clean, with more white space and a larger, easy-to-read font. DigitalUs also designed an “I Want To” section and a mega-menu dropdown for easy access to the site’s most popular pages.
The site was built with the enterprise content management system, Solodev CMS, and includes several custom functionality modules that make it easy for Seminole County staff to keep site content fresh with news, images, videos and announcements. The site also has an emergency alert banner that can be activated within seconds to prominently display important information.
After initial development and content population, Seminole County staff quickly learned the Solodev CMS editing tools and took full ownership by adding new sections, pages and content in preparation for launch.
DigitalUs’ extensive experience developing web solutions for various government and civic entities empowered it to make the new SeminoleCountyFL.gov site a next-generation County website that places a greater emphasis on resident needs and economic development. Instead of the traditional focus on department listings, the site highlights services and encourages businesses and residents to relocate to Seminole County through the promotion of its quality of life, amenities, and modern infrastructure.
The new site is ADA compliant and the improved navigation makes it easier for users to quickly find the most requested content. The mobile responsive coding allows the website to automatically adjust to fit tablets and phones, but also takes advantage of the full width of today’s high resolution monitors.
Additionally, the site is securely hosted within AWS, offers full disaster recovery, and is scalable to 100,000 concurrent users leveraging the Amazon Content Delivery Network (CDN).
The site also includes:
